In order to adapt to today’s market, all kinds of tapes have emerged, but do you know the common sense about tapes? Today S2 will briefly introduce the precautions when using tape.
1. Before using the adhesive tape, it is necessary to do simple cleaning on the bonding position to remove surface grease, dust, moisture, etc.
2. Try not to remove the release paper too long in advance before sticking the tape. Although the air has little effect on the glue, the dust in the air will pollute the surface of the glue, thereby reducing the performance of the tape. Therefore, the shorter the exposure time of the glue in the air, the better. We recommend applying the tape immediately after removing the release paper.
3. Avoid forcibly pulling out the tape, otherwise it will affect the performance of the tape.
4. After the tape is bonded, try not to lift it up and stick it again. If the tape is only pressed with a light force, you can lift it up and stick it again. But if it is all compacted, it will be difficult to remove, the glue may be contaminated, and the tape needs to be replaced again. If the part has been attached for a long time, it is more difficult to remove, and the whole part is usually replaced.
5. Special purpose requires the use of tape with corresponding performance. In the normal temperature range, when the temperature rises, the glue and foam will become softer, and the bonding strength will decrease, but the adhesion will be better. When the temperature is lowered, the tape will harden, the bond strength will increase but the adhesion will deteriorate. Tape performance will return to its original value as the temperature returns to normal. Heat-resistant or cold-resistant tapes are required in high and low temperature environments, and some non-heat-resistant tapes should not be used near fire sources. After the product is directly exposed to the fire source, it may affect the efficacy of the product, and it is more likely to be burned when it comes into contact with the fire source.
6. When used in electrical insulation work, be sure to confirm that the tape type is correct to avoid dangerous situations.
7. Unused tapes need to be stored in a cool and dry place, and avoid storing them in places where they can be exposed to direct sunlight. And after opening, the product needs to be used up as soon as possible to avoid long-term storage.
